Food Allergy Advice
When enquiring about a celebration cake please advise me about any food allergies you or your guests may have that you think I need to know about.
I operate a food safety management system designed to minimise the risk of cross-contamination when making my products. However, I cannot guarantee my products are 100% allergen free because the cakes are produced in a shared environment that includes dairy, soya, sulphites, nuts, wheat, eggs, mustard and fish. I will always try to accommodate you, but if the allergy is severe and may cause a major allergic reaction, sadly I will not be able to safely cater for you.
All my orders are delivered with the appropriate allergy information and it is your responsibility to ensure any recipient(s) are aware of these allergens within your order.
Food Safety and Insurance
Catherine’s Cake House is registered with North Tyneside Food Hygiene department, has a Level 2 Food Safety certificate and is fully insured.
When to Order
All of my cakes are made fresh to order to ensure they arrive to you in perfect condition, and so I need at least 2 weeks’ notice for all orders. However, if I can accommodate an order at short notice, please do contact me and I will try to book you in, but not if it will compromise an existing booking.
How to Order
The best way to start the ordering process is to fill in the contact form on the website. From there, a quote can be provided to you. (Please note a quote does not secure the booking). You can also call me on 07904 704 122 or email me to request a call back to discuss your requirements. I look forward to hearing from you!
Price Guide and Quotation
From quotation, all prices are non-negotiable and are based on the size, style and amount of labour intensive elements of the cake. The quotation is valid for 14 days from the date it is issued to you. This does not secure the booking, and your order is not secure until full payment has been made.
Payments
Payment for your celebration cake secures the date of your booking. Once you are happy to go ahead with your booking, I will send you an invoice with details of your date and items booked. Payment can be made by BACS online transfer. Please use your full name as a reference for the booking. A receipt will be sent by me to you to confirm your order and payment.
Changes and Alterations
Any changes or alterations to your order must be given to me immediately. I will try my best to accommodate these changes but cannot make any guarantees. Changes that I can accommodate may incur an additional charge.
Cancellations
Please notify me immediately if you wish to cancel your order. Cancellations over a week before the delivery date will be given a full refund, but less notice will incur a cancellation charge. Cancellations a week before the delivery date will be provided with a 50% refund. Cancellations within 48 hours of the delivery date will not be given a refund. In the very unlikely event that I need to cancel your order a full refund will be provided to you.
Delivery
To keep your cake in tip top condition I deliver it direct to your house or event within the North East of England.
Delivery is charged at 50p per mile based on return mileage from my base in Benton, North Tyneside. Long distance delivery may also incur a fee for time.
Once the cake has been delivered to you I am not responsible for any damage caused.
Non-edible items
Your celebration cake may include non-edible decorations or support structures within them.
Items include: cake dowels for support to tiered cakes, cake toppers, non-edible fresh flowers, flower tape, ribbon, cake boards and candles. Please remove these items before cutting and serving the cake. I do not take any responsibility for any injury or adverse effect caused from the ingestion or other contact with the non-edible decorations used on the cake.
Photographs
For marketing and promotional purposes I photograph all the cakes that are produced before they are delivered and have the right to use these photographs.
Cake Storage and Care
I work hard to create beautiful, delicious and fresh cakes that will be the centrepiece of your party! After the cake is delivered, it is your responsibility to have a safe and appropriate spot for your cake. Try to avoid hot, humid environments and direct sunlight as they can severely affect buttercream.
I recommend storing your cake in the fridge overnight if it is for an event the following day or if it will be exposed to warm weather for a long period of time. The cake should then be brought to room temperature before it is eaten and served to ensure it is as delicious as it should be!
Leftover cake should be stored in an airtight container, and if it is very warm or you are keeping it for over 2 days I would recommend it is stored in a fridge.
